By ESR and Optical absorption experiments the paramagnetic centers O3, CIO2 and (CIO2-CI)- are identified in irradiated single crystal Cd 9CIO3)2. The ESR spectrum and its regular dependence show that the centers have on magnetically equivalent site per unit cell. The termal annealing of the centers show that they follow a first-order kineticactivation process. Crystallographic data are obtained for Cd(CIO3)2 not available in the literature.

A detailed analysis of this double-resonance experiment shows that the emission takes place from the 3P excited level whose degeneracy islifeted by the Jahn-Teller coupling to Eg modes of vibration. An energy-level crossing effect is observed and its origin discussed.

De acordo com o abstract: "The infrared spectra (220-700 cm -1) of S2 Cl2, S2Br2, Se2 Cl2 and Se2 Br2, and the Raman spectrum of S2BrCl, are reported. Assignments propoed for C2 symetry are supported by a normal coordinate analysis using Urey-Bradley and Valence Force fields. Sets of force constants obtained by a least squares adjusting procedure are given."
